I agree about the march/advance music, quite fitting. The Battle on the Ice is I think the better/more appropriate of the two battle pieces, the soviet national anthem is rather fitting as a victory theme. I can imagine your Valhallans singing the hymn from Hunt for Red October at some point as well, possibly on their way to, or back from, battle. I always think O Fortuna works very well in most 40k settings (and it's one of my favourite pieces). For my Chaos I think I'd be tempted to have Indestructible by Disturbed as a personal theme for my Chaos Lord, particularly when he is charging into and killing people in melee. Master of Puppets would work quite well for my Sorcerer or possibly Night on the Bare Mountain by Mussorgsky, which would also work for any sort of daemon summoning ritual (as demonstrated by this subtly different version being used for just that in Disney's Fantasia).

Those Soviet pieces are pretty awesome, especially the first two. We need to get the Dawn of War soundtrack; that's very good for this sort of thing. I'll bring my LotR3 soundtrack next term. As I mentioned, I also have the Orange Box soundtrack, although most of that's weird pseudo-ambient noise rather than actual music, even if the Combine Theme is very suitable.
Both of those are already in the Chaos playlist, in case you didn't know. We do need more appropriate classical music though; much as I like Dream Theater, it doesn't really have the same evocative effect ;D Unfortunately I know little about classical music because I don't generally listen to it, although I have some symphonic metal stuff that's similar in aspect (there's that one Kamelot song with bits of O Fortuna in it - The Edge of Paradise? - that could fit quite well).

I think Kerensky and myself would be able to help out as far as thematic classical music goes. I have a fairly large quantity of classical music including O Fortuna and the rest of Carmina Burana, I can think of quite a few of other classical pieces I have that would be rather fitting, Mars from Holst's Planets suite for example.

Next term certainly. i have Gladiator, and the fun 'gladiator waltz'. Also various CDs collected over the years. But i liked the idea of playlists for turns etc. and the amazing sychroncity of the Ghostbusters theme. I might try and burn of CD of the more fun stuff.

I'm still partial to the Eldar themes from the Dawn of War II sountrack, which Relic have been nice enough to offer as a free download from: store.steampowered.com/app/15620/(the download is some way down the page)
