I thought we could build up a small database of nice mechs. Somewhere to sap inspiration from, show of what you think a good mech should look like, post a weapon system etc. Most of these will not be our own creations (if you actually make one yourself, it deserves it's own post ). So, I'll start out with some standard, bulky, hard-as-nails mechs, and then some:

Did you just put 'mech' into Google image search and come up with all those? They're beautiful... Couldn't find any larger images of the ones in the first post, could you? 'Specially the second one, I really like that. OK, I'll bung in some stuff into Google and see if I can come up with anything. PS. Nice sig banner.

Well, actually I did simply put 'mech' (or something related) into Google and hit go, so those are the only sizes I found... That one is awesome! And yeah, the missile batteries on the Star Wars thingies are really neat. Hehe, thanks

Yeah... I've already started downloading the game itself ;D
Those'd probably be light mechs, btw. Although they act more like hornets. Maybe they are. *shrug*

The game's actually very good. Fun. When you're really fighting for first place with someone you get a massive adrenalin rush, as all good deathmatch games should give you, and the customisation aspect is very cool. Your mech is decently mobile due to its booster, which is a neat mechanic because it lets you get into the fight quickly if you're stuck far away from it, and also gives you great mobility and dodging capability when fighting. It's also very immediate in that there are no weapons or powerups to pick up - you start and finish with what you loaded onto your mech (but you can take 2 sets of weapons, for when one overheats or is unsuitable). Drawbacks are the fact that games can go very glitchy at times (I think that's a connection problem more than anything) and it takes a long time to save up for anything. It's given me a few good ideas already though, and I would certainly recommend getting it. ...Nah, giga ordnance would have a massive long barrel as well.

...And I saw you ;D
Have you seen the Laser Wing jetpack? Damn I want one of those... Problem is, it's like 45000 credits and it's not much good unless you buy a 25000 cred homing laser skill to go with it... So I bought the P booster. LW looks awesome though; I've seen a couple of mechs with it and they're stunnin'. I'll have to make a Duel of Steel version...

Thought it looked like a decent variation of a Daemon/Alien mech.

It does, that. Y'know what the Head reminds me of? The Legion of Everblight Carnivean.
How big are those Evangelion models, by the way? Can you get 5"-6" tall ones we can use as (a basis for) cheap superheavies?

I think they're roughly 12"-16" or something. Not really sure.

*Faints* Now all we need is a ton of W40k Eldar bits to glue on em, and we're set for the Uber-Super-Heavy class of Alientech mechs! Oh, and Adam; I has it ;D ... we should make a thread in general for exteel discussion tbh

You have it?... You saved up 43000 creds and bought a laser wing?! jealousy... And I thought Rushnik legs were expensive... Yeah, I'll put it in. 12-16"? Crud... Way too big... I have seen a couple of nice Evangelion to Revenant Titan conversions, actually. I guess 12" superheavies could be made, but they'd be a bit TOO big, y'know? (Although I do have an idea for Gigantors - really really big ones - that'd go in an expansion or something.)
