If any of you have played the game Painkiller, you'll soon realise why this mech is so-called... it has a giant version of the stake gun (including underslung grenade launcher) and a dual electrodriver on its sword arm! On top of that, it comes with a shoulder-mounted missile battery and a BIG sword. (To scale, this sword is the size of a bus.)
Painkiller's built on top of an Armoured Core Fascinator snap-fit kit from Forbidden Planet. £27 for something this big is pretty impressive. The kit is high quality and takes time but not much difficulty to assemble; the snap-fit cuts down on a LOT of boring glue work. The model is about 6" tall to its head, and is fully poseable, another neat touch. Legs are as yet unconverted, as is the body and head. The missile launcher normally sticks out above and behind the model, but I decided to set it into the shoulder instead for a more compact look. The gigaweapon is made out of some pencil sections, plastic tubing, bits of the Fascinator's weapons, and a touch of Green Stuff. The gigantic sword is of course plasticard.
The conversion isn't quite finished yet; as you can see his sword still needs some work (which I completely forgot about doing until I saw the picture just now - I'm currently working on a Trygon!) and I may go over the rest of him and add extra guns, upgrades and details here and there, as well as gluing together some of the looser-fitting parts. I'll post up more angles when I'm completely finished with the conversion.
Painkiller is to be an Enforcement super-heavy in one of two 3000 cog teams I'm building up. I've ordered a bunch of parts and kits - using 40K, Warmachine, AT-43 and Infinity parts - which, with the aid of some Green Stuff, plasticard, balsa wood and so on, will be transformed into another seven mechs. The plan is for four Enforcers (including the Painkiller) and four Etherium mechs, as the most obviously 'good' and 'evil' factions to someone who's never seen the game before. Plus, the Etherium mechs will look Cryxish enough for me to use them to give my Warmachine army some heavy jack lovin'. Once the teams are done, I can use them in both playtesting and demo-gaming. I've garnered a little interest in DoS from gamers at university, so they'll find use there as well. As I mentioned, Painkiller's the biggest of the lot.
Enough rambling - onto the miniature!
