Someone over at the Anargo Sector project made me aware of this program that aids making pretty diagrams for battlereports. Given that everyone here has some sort of game or race/mod etc that's on the go and needs playtesting I thought it might be useful to someone. www.battlechronicler.com/

I thought this was going to be Vassal again, but it wasn't. Nice one. I'll download this and try using it on Sunday.

I never used it, in the end. Ah well. We can try it, if you like.

Cool, what's your username? I don't play Exteel a whole lot these days but maybe I'll see you around sometime

So you can basically make up the stats for models as you see fit then? Would it work with BFG do you think?

Probably. Given that it's just a virtual game board I can't see why it wouldn't work with anything really, with a little help back home (you'd need to record damage, etc).

Just thought I'd let you know I downloaded Vassal, I also found that there is actually a BFG module for it, which I've also got, it seems fairly good, I'll e-mail you it if you want. I also downloaded all of the 40k modules, note that vassal40k, the website for the 40k modules for vassal is being shut down by GW and will no longer exist after today, the modules themselves are still around though and can still be used (since GW can't stop you using them on the vassal servers), just the site won't be there.

Holy crap, well done on getting them before they got shut down. Can you send me all of that stuff? Email it to me in a zip file or something? Thanks

I could e-mail you the BFG stuff, though that would have to be done in two installments (it's 11MB when zipped, just over the attachment limit). The 40k package though is 164MB so that isn't going to work at all. I'll see if I can get it up in my online file storage at least temporarily, that or find you the link to download it.

Sure, upload it to MediaFire (it'll take years for me to download it as my connection isn't particularly great, but whatever). If all else fails, just give it to me at uni.

On a similar note, I just found this: MegaMek. It's basically Battletech on a computer. Anyone fancy a go?

Battletech is a mech-combat game that's been around for ages. If you've heard of the computer game series MechWarrior, that's a spin-off of Battletech, using the same mech types and combat style and so on.

Never heard of MechWarrior either I'm afraid.
